Regional Societies |

Nurses and Midwives Association of Slovenia is made up of 11
regional societies, which are organized in the following regions: Ljubljana,
Maribor, Celje, Pomurje, Ptuj - Ormož, Nova Gorica, Koper, Slovenj Gradec, Novo
mesto, Velenje, and Gorenjska.
A regional Nurses and Midwives Society (NMS) is a voluntary, independent,
non-profit and non-political professional organization of nurses, midwives and
nurse assistants.
Its general aims are to:
- bring together its members and provide a forum for professional discussions and
exchange of experience
- take and active part in preserving and developing the historical and cultural
heritage of nursing and midwifery
- promote professional, cultural, social and sports activities among its members
- maintain contacts with other regional societies and Nurses and Midwives
Association of Slovenia
Regional societies organize professional training and various other
activities designed to promote the professional development, health and general
well-being of their members.
Membership is voluntary. It is considered an honour and moral
obligation for every nurse and midwife – active, retired or trainee – to be
a member of its local NMS. All those wishing to join a regional society must
complete a membership statement, in which they also indicate the preferred was
of paying the membrship dues. New members are issued with a membership card,
which is used for identification in professional meetings.
All regional societies are united in Nurses and Midwives Association of
Slovenia.
